Une B21 pour George MRAZ
Ma rencontre avec George MRAZ a eu lieu cet été. Je lui ai prêté une B21 pour son concert avec Hank JONES. Il a été conquis d’emblée et m’en a commandé une immédiatement après son concert.
J’ai conçu pour lui une version spéciale qui portera le nom de « George MRAZ model » et qui inclut :
- une architecture de voûtes et d’épaisseurs plus particulièrement adaptée au jeu mixte pizz et archet
- des caoutchoucs et filets spécifiques
- un allègement maximum du poids de l’instrument
J’ai construit cette contrebasse durant tout l’été et il en a pris livraison le 16 octobre 2009. Il l’a jouée en concert dès le lendemain au Festival « Jazz en Nord » avec Hank JONES .
Il apprécie particulièrement l’égalité de son entre les 4 cordes, la puissance sonore, la richesse du timbre et le sustain très long sur toute la tessiture.« This double bass is incredible: the sound is even on all 4 strings and every single note has sustain and depth of tone. It is the first bass on which I can use the whole Spirocore Medium set, which gives me that much more pleasure to play. Moreover, it can be taken apart and put together in a few minutes, and weighing just 23.5 kg, can be put on planes as luggage without any extra charge. Traveling easy, being able to perform on my own instrument is a luxury these days. The bass also has the possibility of a lot of various adjustments, which is incredible. I was about to give up traveling but this creation will keep me on the road. I can't thank Patrick Charton enough for building this wonderful instrument for me. It is simply a marvel."»
